The Giving of Thanks

99,000 families still living in trailers in the Gulf region.
But we can spend 255 million in Iraq each day.

655,000 Iraqi civilian deaths due to US invasion.
And 33% of Americans still favor the war.

The national dept is very roughly 8.1 Trillion $.
And we're supposed to be scared of 'tax and spend' liberals.

Yes, but at least you're still handsome.

oh jeez, I'm gagging here.

by the way, I'd venture that 99% of those 99,000 families are more interested in spending their relief funds, etc. on replacing their tv's and other walmart junk than saving up to get the f out of there and start a new life outside of a flood zone. People are skeert, they'd rather prolong the suffering and whine about it. And I honestly can't say for sure whether I would act differently...

Well E, this may deserve it's own line somewhere else but ... i think it is entirely possible that some of New Orleans' displaced residents are in fact milking the system, just as some people mile welfare or what have you. I think your estimate of 99% may be a touch out there though. Also, to ask that there somehow not be a city at the mouth of the 3rd largest river in the world is crazy talk. Do you also advocate the 30 million Californians that live on a fault line to move? The Dutch have a whole country that is flood plane, and they seem to manage to take care of their levies.

Good points, Johnny. However, I definately think loads of people should stay in New Orleans, LA, etc. That way, when the shit goes down, this country's population will be that much smarter. The only downside is that the pop. would also be a whole lot whiter.

In that regard I can think of a number of places where natural disaster would improve the US I.Q. I wouldn't put the Lower Ninth Ward particularly high on the list though. Washington DC is built in a swamp, perhaps a bad epidemic of malaria is in order ...

Just for reference, I don't see Shrub or whoever as a racist. I don't think he particularly gives a shit about race. He does give a shit about class, and he ain't down with poor people.
